First off does anybody own this rifle and if so what are your thought? and feel free to post a photo or two. :)

Second does anybody know what contour they use on the factory barrel?

Thanks

It's a magnum contour, even on the 7-08.

Even though its fluted, a standard barrel is lighter...

To achieve optimum velocity, the magnum contour barrel is a full 24". It features Light Varmint-style fluting for rapid heat dissipation, and the action and barrel are solidly bedded in our distinctive CDL walnut stock. And prepare to be amazed by the shot control and breaks-like-glass feel of our X-Mark Pro™ trigger.

I've got one on lay-away in 30-06. still wondering if it's the right choice or not. Worried a little about the weight. Not sure if it has a J-lock or not. Sure is a slick looking gun though. Might pay it off and have it delivered next week. What caliber are you looking at?

I had one I bought a couple years ago, in 30-06. Real nice rifle, shot well and felt good in the hands.

I bought one in .300WSM topped with a Leupold VX-L 4.4 x 14 x 50.I have only shot it once (yes I know.....very sad)used Federal Vital -Shok 150 gr. Nosler Ballis. tips. The gun shot very nice groups using my truck hood and bags(next time shooting I`ll do it in a proper manner) recoil was enjoyable and the rifle handles very nice for me.I`m glad with my purchase, but lament my lack of shooting time with it (something to do with working out of town)

I have one that was originally a 7-08 but is now a 7-08AI. I really like the rifle, and with the 140 TTSX, or MRX it shoots bugholes! Weight is not excessive IMHO. Regards, Eagleye.

I have one of the anniversary edition .30/06's and it is a very nice rifle, it will print three 165gr partitions just under an inch all day...The sad part is that I haven't even broken it in and shot anything with it yet:redface:...

'rifle.

I know a guy that has one of this year's Ltd. 260's, as well as a 270 wsm chambered in the CDL SF. They're pretty good rifles but would make more sense in a laminated, or synthetic stock.

Mine in 300WSM had ejection problems which were a warrant repair. No problems feeding, extracting or ejecting now.

Had the new X trigger adjusted to a crisp 2 Lbs. and the stock bedded while I was at it.

Best groups at 200 yards with this rifle haven't been as great as some of my other factory remingtons. The best so far has been with Sierra 165 BTHP which were about 1 MOA. 200 grain Nosler partitions shoot about 2.25" at 200 yards and 180 Hdy interlocks 2.5". Still pretty good for hunting. Cold barrel shot seems to be a tad different than consecutive shots, but I haven't the patience to wait 10 mins between shots.

Rifle isn't really broken in yet so I expect improvements.

When the opportunity presents itself, I may switch to a good synthetic stock. I would prefer a darker wood stock.

I have one in .30-06. Its in a VCI sock and has been sealed up with my Foodsaver, sitting at the very back of my safe. I bought it for my son who was born in March this year. I grabbed it for him when he was about 36 hours old. It'll be sitting in there for a while until I pick a suitable time for its presentation. I have the same 700 action and fluted barrel also in .30-06, but on a laminate thumbhole stock; and its so accurate (cloverleafs at 200 yards) I thought I'd get him the same, but with a more classic stock.
