Remington 700 conversion

$210 just for a magazine? easy decision for me :p

it'd be easy to find a BDL style drop out floorplate stock & floorplate/mag box for your rifle

looking to options for my gun, came across this......

My gun is pre-1982 ( 1966, actually) and qualifies for the bolt catch mod. Call Remington with the serial number of your gun and they will tell you when it was made.

Think Twice before going for this conversion, I know guys that regreted doing it. Let me explain.
A push feed action requires that the bolt handle be closed when extracting a cartridge so that the extractor can snap over the case rim, of coarse the safety has to be off for this operation so Remington decided to eliminate the locking feature on their safety, Baaad idea for guys that actually carry their rifles in the field they are always having to close the bolt handle or worse pick up shells from the ground because they get flung out of the action because there is now no lock on the bolt handle and the handle always gets snagged on branches, clothing etc. It would be wise to exercise caution when unloading and keep the locking feature on the bolt, of coarse a BDL has a hinged floorplate and can be unloade from underneath. This is one of the advantages of a CRF action, the bolt handle does not have to be closed on the round in order for it to be extracted, just front and back and all the shells are out, safely!
In the end it is your choice, just my .02!

Just by appearances that looks exactly like the Kwick Klip conversion for Remingtons.

They are available for more like $150, or they come up on the EE from time to time. You will have to cut out your stock of course...

Kwik Klip, from my research does not have a 308 (short action ) convesion. BB, thanks for the input...I dont have the hinged floor plate, thanks for the info though.....will have to think about it.

After a week of Elk hunting, I am really annoyed with my 700. Has a blind magazine.

I found this: http://www.hsprecision.com/new_floor_plate.htm

Any experiences with these guys?

Where could I find a synthetic stock, with room for a magazine?

They may be a tad expensive, but they are rock solid, coated stainless steel and high quality. I have one and am not sorry I paid for it and they do ship Canada.
No problem with feeding if installed right.

There is absolutely no need to run any round in a push feed rifle completely into the chamber to extract it. All you need to do is run the round far enough to clear the magazine, retract the bolt and dump the round into your hand. Voilla.

Oh, and the HS unit and kwik klip are two different animals entirely. HS=heck of a unit. KK=junk

I have to agree with Chuck on all three counts......you DO NOT HAVE to run cartridges into the chamber to unload a blind mag push feed...if you can't figure that out you can't change your own oil...but Mr Lube has to generate revenue afterall....,the Kwik-klip is a POS and the HS unit is actually useable....afterall...us nelsons have to stick together....;)

A local dealer told me the other day that he sends model 700's to remington all the time for DM conversions. For $150 you can have the factory installed Remington mags, a much better system than any aftermarket one.

I don't know much about the HS Precision conversion, but I have the Kwik Klip installed on my 700 SPS 30-06 and it functions flawlessly. Took me all of 5 minutes to install. The HS Precision looks identical to my Kwic Klip, except for the stainless steel mag. I only paid $110+tax from a local gunsmith for it brand new. Later for $40 I bought an extra mag. Unfortunatly I've been told that the Kwik Klips were not manufactured for short actions, and I think that Kwik Klip is no longer in business. Also the blind mag thing would take some time to convert, My rifle had a hinged floor plate.

does any one know if any one make a compatable 10 shot standard remington mag i know there are aftermarket systems that take 10 shot mags but is there one for the remington DM with out having to mod it
