Remington 700 CP "Pistol"

Technically, even at 21" it should be non-restricted right?
As long as it doesn't have a folding/telescopic stock
I'm worried that since Remington called it a pistol, it will be classed as a pistol here too and therefore restricted, just like the Ruger Charger

Depends on the story the manufacturer and importer feed the lab. In theory a factory made fixed stock manual action firearm based off a design that is not a handgun frame is NR no matter its barrel or OAL.

I wish i could unsee that.

Please, nobody import that to Canada. The RCMP have creamy white stuff running down their collective legs looking for an excuse like this to ban more ####. Remington 700 pistol variant. Now everyone and their grandpaw's deer rifle goes restricted or some other such nonsense because it's easily convertible.

And before anyone goes high horse... Mossberg Blaze and the 858 Spartan.. just to name 2.

Dude what are you talking about? I understand the tinfoil hat stuff, but the RCMP have to operate within the law. The blaze and spartan were odd yes, and they should be sued for that incompetency, but they don't do stupid crap like that very often. If they were after such things all of the ranch hand "pistols" would have been restricted.

10/22 mag limits...

These will be NR up here in my opinion. Just a bolt action mares leg. I want one, 12.5” barreled 308 around $1000US in what sure looks like an MDT ESS? Yup then only thing that would trump this for me would be a bullpup bolt action in a similar price range. I’m stoked!

I think Jerry is right in saying that one could simply build such a rifle (for cheaper or similar cost too likely). I'll be looking into building a short precision rifle. After reading into it quite a bit there is nothing wrong with it minus a few hundred fps velocity loss. I have enjoyed my 16.5" rifles but I want to try something maybe more is the 14-13" range in the next couple of years. Might just replace the barrel on my 783 :)

Cheaper? With a similar chassis? Good luck with that. You might get close to the same price, but if it’s priced like the SPS tactical, which is often lower than its MSRP, it would be pretty tough to put together for that.
