Hi All,

I did a quick search and I was wondering if it is possible to use AR15 mags in a Remington 700 (assuming that the appropriate bottom metal was put in. I am looking at it because I would like to get a .223 mag fed boltgun and I think AR15 mags are very useful in making it happen. Any gunsmiths here have any experience in this?

Thanks in advance,

Glock

Haven't heard of anyone using AR mags in a 700. The usual condition of internal box magazine rifles is the feed lips are alread incorporated in the design. A detachable magazine has the feed lips - well, on the magazine. For example, to convert a .308 Model 700 to use M14 magazines is a uni-directional conversion. There is no going back after the steel gets removed.

The alternative to an AR magazine is the Remington detachable magazine itself. A clever fellow might be able to extend one with an AR body and spring, but that is not the question you asked.

I was looking at the RRA 10 rounders they are a good length and reasonable capacity for a boltgun. I have yet to see a factory Rem DM for 223 boltface calibers in the 700 family. To be honest I haven't seen very many 223 type dm systems at all for the 700.
