on my .223 model 700P, the bottom of the FOLLOWER, where the spring slides into its slot, seems to have a slot on it thats .200" longer than the 'foot' of my follower.
the follower spring slides into its slot no problem, but it can then slide forward or back in its slot nearly 1/4". with the spring fully forward, the action cycles fine. when it gets pushed back through cycling the action several times, it causes problems -- the follower tips forward and binds on the bolt.
did some bubba install a wrong size follower spring in this rifle? should the 'foot' of the spring completely fill the slot in the bottom of the follower? i used to have several 700s but i never really noticed this, and now i dont have access to one to check.
