Which Remington 700 you guys find particularly accurate in .308Win, in either barrel twist? It is not for hunting, more for precision shooting.

Thanks

It's gotta be the 700VS or the 700P. I went through 2 VS barrels on my 700VS, and they averaged .5moa groups with 154 Scenars, 175 SMk's, 165 SST's, and 168 SMK's. I then screwed on a lightly used 700P barrel. Have only shot 154 Scenars, and they are grouping just under .5moa. I am using handloads.

I know the VS barrel is 1 in 12 twist, but not sure about the 700P.

I have two 700Ps in the house now, as well as a Frankenrifle made up with an early 700 receiver and a 40X barrel, none of them shoot as well as that first 40x. They're all cheaper though. Personally I would blueprint an action and have a good barrel fitted to it, with a match chamber if that's your interest, then bed it into an HS or McM stock. You won't have spent much more money, and I bet it shoots better then any of the factory offerings. - dan

My 700 VLS in .308 can group cast bullets into 1/2" if I do everything right. I will however, adjust the trigger or buy an aftermarket one.
