Remington 700 LA (converting to single shot)

Is this the best way to convert a Remington 700 LA to a single shot. I really wanted to use the McMillan McHale stock but McMillan informed me that it looks goofy when used with bottom metal. I could easily live with this rifle being a single shot so that is what Iam considering at this point.

I don't know if this will help but I turned my 700 into a single shot by purchasing a single shot mag. follower from Brownells. --- John S.
