I am making some changes to my rem 700 and have to switch it from DM to hinged floor plate for the new stock (B&C). I have the bottom metal which has a 30-06 mag box and follower. I know I need a new follower. From what I saw on one site and cartridge length I am questioning if I can use the 30-06 mag box I already have. Can I use it or do I have to buy a different one?

Thanks

If you have a BDL 30-06 magazine box, follower and spring... I would say that is exactly what you need for most 700's that are not a DM model.

The problem you will have if your action is a factory DM action... the action has no 'feed rails' to hold the cartridges in the magazine... that was being taken care of by using a factory detachable magazine.

Now if your DM system was not Remington but say Kwik-Klip... and the action a standard action then what you have should work.

Well that sounds like a massive oversight on my part. So pretty much I just bought a stock and bottom metal that won't work. Sounds like my best option may be to trade mine for one that is not a DM or start a completely separate build.

I appreciate the information. You just saved me a pile of frustration and money.

Off to the ee to try and find a trade.

I was thinking this through after and am I correct that if I order a quick clip conversion this may solve my problems for this build or will that still not work with my DM action? Not sure if it would still need the feed ramps. Can I use my hinge floor plate bell and Carson stock and my Detachable mag action and the Kwik clip conversion?

Are the Kwik Clip conversions a good product?

I like the Kwik Klip. I have it on my hunting rifle. I have installed many of them over the years. The stock may require a little inletting but it will work with your action.
