Remington 700 Milspec 5R--7.62x51mm NATO or 308 Winchester

Hi,my rifle is a Remington 700 Milspec 5R .308 Win (7.62x51 NATO)i know there is a different betwen those two cartridge.but can i use military 7.62 nato round?

308 Winchester (SAAMI) Gauges .
GO - 1.6300"
NOGO - 1.6340"
FIELD - 1.6380"

7.62x51 NATO (Military) Gauges
GO - 1.6350"
NOGO - 1.6405"
FIELD - 1.6455"

Yes you can. And they actually fire pretty well out of the 5r for a 150gn projectile.

I fire 762 nato out of my 700P with no problems , IVI , Port , Aust , and South African all good for right under 1" @ 100 meters ( except the IVI )

For ur 5R? 175 smk

Try 45gn of varget. Work around there using Winchester brass.
