asked this question on the Black Rifle section and was advised to post it here.

does anyone own or may have owned this subject rifle and if so what did or do you think of it? looking at buying one just not sure if it is worth the extra money.

do a search lots of posts about it

easily a sub MOA gun with factory ammo, and with handloads it can come down to .5 +/- MOA .

mine shoots just over 1/2 moa every time i take it out useing 42.5gn varget and 175gn SMK

if your just getting into precission it should last you for quite some time, add a bedding job and have the trugger worked down to 1.5lbs or so and youll be set

if your not new, and just plan to rob the action for a future build, there is better (read cheaper) choices available
 
thanks for the feed back guys, Brutus they are out there but you have to look, average price here in Canada is about $1200 found some a bit cheaper but that is about the average.

Was this for the barrel alone?
You see I'm a lefty, and a true LH action 700 with a 5R pipe, is something I've never seen before.
But I do have a LH Varminter I would rather rebarrel.
 
I think you would be better off just to go with an after market barrel if you gonna spend that kinda money. Or buy a take off

1200 would get you the complet rifle
 
Might aswell go for the rifle, u can part out the stock and parts you dont want no problem on the EE. Barreled action will be a good base for a build after some action work! Best of luck!
 
If you are paying $1200 for just the barrel and action, I'm wondering if that's good value. You can get a higher quality barrel installed on an action for around that same money.

maybe im confussed, are you talking about Any barrel with 5r rifleing, or are you after a remmington 5r barrel?

as stated befor if your just after 5r rifling, you would be much further ahead to buy an aftermarket 5r barrel by a company like kreiger, but if you want a remington 5r barrel, i think you would have to find a take off, as the remmington 5r rifles are limeted production as is

as for the 1200$ remakr, you had asked if that was for the barrel alone
 
Terrible rifle - starts out with ~$1,000 or so, like how it shoots. Then tune the trigger, bed it. Add an adjustable stock. Add better scope and rings or base with additional elevation. Like how it shoots and think about accurizing the action or building a custom rig... In the interim micrometer die & precision mic gauge made it into the home...

Do yourself a favour and just buy a CZ858 :)
