Remington 700 short action

after the takeover/bailout/regroup or what ever you'd like to call it, remington stopped selling actions only to concentrate on rebuilding and filling current orders and backorders, once that is back to normal the over flow of parts will hit the open market.

worse case is having to find a complete rifle on sale, and or a barreled action and sell off the bits that don't work for you

Dont rule out an older used rifle. It may cost less than a new action.

You can have the action refinished at Vulcan Gun Refinishing. You might be better off considering the older actions were made better than recent manufacture.

I have a 60's action I have trued, bumped the bolt and set the cocking piece/sear engagement for smoothest operation... with the 'Tombstone' safety and the trigger crisp just over 2 pounds.

Unfortunately it has a 243 barrel on it and a Kwik Klip in a BDL stock with a decel pad and a Leupold 2-7 Firedot in Leupold mounts... it shoots factory 100 grain Hornady under 3/4 inch. Cerkoted barrel, action and bolt and with 5 boxes of factory ammo.

There was a company making Vietnam pattern M40 sniping rifles on period correct Model 700 serial numbered actions. Why go to the trouble starting a 1978 rifle and dressing it up to look like a 1966?
