Remington 700 SPS + Kwik Klip system

How does the Kwik Klip system work in Rem 700 SPSs'? It states its for ADLs and BDLs only.

Anyone have any experience with it?

Why anyone would replace a good hinged floorplate for a crappy unreliable Kwik Krap system is beyond belief. They rattle and wear out fast and are easy to lose. Hang onto your floorplate as you will be reinstalling it soon.

The Kwik Klips are certainly not high quality components.I installed one in one of my own rifles, and it did function okay with one magazine, but not so great with a second magazine. There are other conversion kits available that are much better, but they do cost more.I personally find the factory Remington detachable magazine system to be a very good system, and I used one myself for several years with no issues.
As to losing magazines,if you can't keep track of your magazines, how do you ever keep from losing your keys,or your wallet, your license, and even your gun?Do you have a string on your gloves that goes through your sleeves?
That has to be the poorest excuse that I have ever heard for not wanting a detachable magazine.

I meant to say the kwik klip could get lost in the bush because they are not very well made and could fall out due to poor fit. I have never lost a mag for any Enfields I have had over the past 35 years.

funny how the Ruger 10-22 is never dissed for it's detachable mag....

yup,...if you're in the habit of losing your mag you might need strings to hold your mittens onto your jacket....

X2
My sentiments exactly.

I have installed many Kwik-Klips and they work very well for a hunting rifle.

I have friends that use them and I use one on my hunting rifle.

They can be installed on just about any long action 700.

Installed properly they will give you no problem.

I have a ss rem 270 with a synthetic stock which is a top load and I want to change it to a clip (preferablely stainless) What is the best way of doing this?

I occasionally need strings for mittens, car keys and wallets go missing sometimes... and I bought a floor plate model this time. :D Seriously, I only misplaced my DM for my old rifle once, but man was I P.O'd. Back to the topic...

What model do you have?Does it have a floorplate?
And by the way,you can load any 700 with a floorplate through the floorplate instead of through the top.I have been using 700s for close to 30 years, and I have never loaded one through the top.

Not to sure what model it is. It has no floor plate or clip....its a top load??? What I do know is that its a remington model 700 .270win bought new some 10-15 years ago.

It sounds like you have an ADL. 22" barrel? For what it is worth, my pops had a Kwik Klip installed into his ADL, by someone who knew how to do so properly, and had no issues for many years of hunting.

Yup , been there done that .

I don't understand why anyone thinks the Kwik Klip is crappy and unreliable... ?

Over many years I have installed quite a few and I have been using one on my hunting rifle for 6 or 7 years... no complaints from any of my customers and I have had no problems. .. and these do not rattle nor are they worn out.

I agree that the hinged floorplate system works very well but if one wishes to have a detachable magazine on an existing long action 700 the Kwik Klip is a good choice. As with any detachable magazine, don't loose it on a hunting trip because it makes for a lousy single shot.

After many years of hinged floor plates, I couldn't get used to the clip, quick as it was to get the gun up and running .
I didn't have a real problem with it, just stuckinthemuditis .

My complaint with the Kwik Klip is that the quality of the magazines leave a lot to be desired. In some cases, the magazines do feed well, but in some cases they don't.Myself and a hunting partner each bought a Kwik Klip for our 700 Remingtons in 7mmremmag,and we each bought a second magazine for a spare.Out of the four magazines, two feed quite well,in both guns, and two don't feed nearly as well in either gun.The installation was done properly as proven by the fact that two magazines feed well in either gun.Other people that I have spoken with found poor quality control as far as the magazines are concerned.
