Took my SPS tactical out today for the first time. It shot very well especially with 168gr Federal Gold Medal match but I experienced some failures to feed. The casing would extract fine but when pushing the bolt forward it goes over the next round instead of chambering it. It doesnt happen every time but enough that its a concern. Anyone else have this problem? How do u fix it?

I read on here a few days ago to fix this u leave the internal mag full for a few days to leave the spring compressed and that should fix the problem. I did this and I guess it hasnt worked. Any other ideas?

I have the same rifle and have experienced the same issue. I am not sure but I think what caused it was that I did not insert the rounds correctly in the magazine. The magazine is a bit finicky and it is easy to load a round at a slight angle and then it does not feed correctly. I have not had the issue recently. Either the action has smoothed out with use or I have gotten better at loading the magazine.

When loading a round in the magazine make sure it is seated properly.

My rifle also likes 168gr Gold Medal and is very accurate for the price.

I have that problem with both feeding and the scratches on the .223 model. Scratches I don't care but the feeding issue I have noticed is the rounds loaded to far back in the mag. I usually push the round up a couple of mil's and it's fine. Now I just load the rounds a little more forward and have no problems anymore.

This may sound dumb but are you sure you were cycling your bolt all the way back. If not, the bolt cannot pick up the back of the next round in the magazine.

Try with some dummy rounds at home or life rounds at the range. See if you can re-create the problem and see what is causing it.

Might be bolt cycling or rounds feeding a bit cockeyed. I noticed with my Remington was a bit hard to load the internal mag. Can't recall having your exact problem but I have had the same thing with other internal box mag rifles.

The late production of Remmy rifle are kind short on QC, did file a little bit of the upper housing in the mag hole for one of my friend, it is ok now, but make sure the person know the rifle before filing anything... JP.

only feeding problem i have ever had was the bolt got kinda hard to lock in after quite a few rounds but that was my bad cleaning of the front of the locking part
