Hi everyone...I took my Remy 700 to the range yesterday for the first time and tested 6 kinds of ammo for grouping at 100yds.....The 6 kinds of ammo were: 1) Austrian FMJ Ball 2) Lake City Match 173gr 3) Federal 150gr 4) Federal 180gr 5) Federal Fusion 180gr 6) Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr

I used the Federal 150gr to sight in at 100yds.I shot a 3 rnd group which grouped to the left and for the fourth round I adjusted the windage. Then I tried the Federal 180gr and shot a good 4 round group and had 1 flyer.

Third i tried the Austrian Ball with this result...

Not great but it would do the job...............Next was Lake City Match 173gr and Federal Fusion 180gr........I used the rifles bipod on the top targets and sandbags for the bottom.....As you can see I did much better off the sandbag....

I saved the best for last.....Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr......Definitely the best of all I tried today....VERY good ammo....Again the top target was off the bipod and the bottom off the sandbag.....

In the end I am very impressed with the Federal Gold Medal Match..... and I learned I get better groups off the sandbag.....This was the first time shooting this rifle and I know with more range time I can get better groups...

Good job bud! Lots of fun isnt it?!
I have been shooting off bipods for years. Now shooting out to 1760, and I havent tried shooting without them past 600yds.
The things that make a guy go Hmmmm!

I should try some shootin off a front sand bag for a trial or two.

If you dont reload or dont plan on reloading, be sure to purchase a supply of those 168 Gold Medal Match Federals. If you do, be sure to check on the box that all the boxes you purchase are of the same manufacturing "Lot".

Have fun and staight shoot'in you gunnutz!

damn look at the 168 gr groups. ive had several people tell me my r700 in 30.06 will shoot better with the 168 gr than the 180 will. looks like yours did too. looks good man.

The SPS Tactical was one of the rifles I reviewed recently in a review of tactical/sniper type rifles and I gave it the 'Value Award' - this is a very, very good choice for someone on a budget.

Yes, I bought my scope mount from you and you were kind enough to help me set it up and give me some shooting tips.

Where did you get the LC match?

I bought it at Del Selins about 2 years ago. There had 200 rounds of it left in its original metal ammo can so I bought it all. I paid $15/box and Del gave me the ammo can it came in. I have tried not to use it because I know how rare it is. But I wanted to see how it shot in the R700.

Me Too!

I have the same rifle. I like it alot and I am please to report it holds it own out to 500 meters very nicely. I get occational sub 1/4 moa and always get 1/2 moa with 41.7 Varget pushing 168 SMK.

That makes at least two of us who like the gun!
