Remington 700 sps tactical aac sd .308 to heavy for hunting?

Have a few SPS Tacticals, extremely accurate, have dropped many deer with them.
These days, much prefer the bull barrels when set up in a stand for hunting rather than for long stalks.
If it is all you have for hunting right now it will work, train with your weapon of choice, cheers..

Only you can decide if the gun is to heavy to carry all day while hiking up and down the hills or on game trails.
Carried a 243 Varminter laminated stock and yes it was a log.
But, I was younger then.
It all depends on your hunting style.

Stock and scope are worthless, you can get the gun new for around $850, $700 used.
Not a good deal, move on.

I believe Remington currently has a rebate on many of their tactical Rem 700's. I think it is $150 so it might make sense to buy new and get exactly what you want, then toss on the scope of your choice.
Check it out on their website.

Just wondering if anyone uses this rifle and finds that it is just to heavy to carry all day while hunting.

My last 2 deer were shot with "tactical" rifles. A Savage 10TR and my current 700 SPS 16". A little heavy, but not a hindrance. But I'm not hiking mountains.

This.
And also I've used 700s from 20"-26" heavy barrels for hunting. Like was mentioned, long hikes they get heavy but "truck hunting" or stand hunting, shorter hikes they are great.
Should be able to pick one up on the EE for around 750 ish. I don't mind the hogue stocks. Spend the other 400 on a decent used scope in the ee.

Why make work out of something that is supposed to be fun? Target guns are for target shooting.

Buy a quality lightweight rifle and never look back.

I've decided against a tactical. At least as far as a hunting rifle goes. I did find a winchester m70 though and going to look at that tomorrow. It's a .270

I held the 16" version and it was noticeably less front heavy, I had the 20" and it had a bit of weight to it, most noticeable when shooting standing, the 16 seemed better.
