So I kind of have my mind set on a R700 SPS Tactical but I don't know if I should get the regular or the AAC-SD, the only difference is the regular has a 1 in 12 twist while the AAC-SD has a 1 in 10 and the barrel is threaded for suppressor, flash hider etc etc.. Rifle is in .308

So does anyone have either of them, give me some tips? Right now i'm leaning towards the AAC-SD because I like the color of the grayish stock :\

I'm sure someone will be happy to correct me if I'm wrong but here goes... You didn't list a calibre but you might want to think about what kind of shooting you'll be doing and thus what sort of bullet would be best for your purposes. If you're planning on shooting heavier bullets I think the faster twist rate on the AAC-SD would be a better choice to go with. If you're talking about a recoil heavy calibre (I don't know what Remington offers in these guns) I would definitely go with the AAC-SD for the option to throw a muzzle break on.

Yeah about seven seconds with google and I figured it all out. It seems like the biggest thing you'll have to think about is bullet selection. I know very little about .308 ballistics so you might need another source on this. If you're planning on shooting lighter bullets faster the tactical with 1 in 12 inches would be maybe a better choice(I would imagine this would be better suited for varminting if you wanted to do that sort of thing with a .308)? If you really want to load them up with heavier bullets (Higher BC = better for longer distance shooting) I would definitely go with the AAC-SD with the 1 in 10" twist to stabilize those heaver bullets. This all coming from a guy that shoots .204 but I think most of my information is correct.

I have the sps tac and my brother has the sps tac aac-sd both in 308. Other than what's been stated regarding twist rate and threaded barrel. Both are quite accurate lil rifles and both will shoot side by side with his 300 win Remington 5R and his Sendero any day any time and not be lacking in the accuracy dept

I agree with JRodko concerning the heavier bullets and the faster twist. This applies to other calibers as well.

I have an AAC-SD and my shooting buddy has the SPS. I like the threaded barrel as I had a comp installed before I even shot it. I can see my hits through the scope. The only thing I am not crazy about is the Hogue stock. It is very flexible and touches the barrel when using a bipod. Also, if you run a scope on a picatinny rail with a quick release mount, the cheek piece will be way too low. This applies to both models. I am looking for an aftermarket stock.

Just sorting ammo out for it right now, but I feel that it has a lot of potential.
