So I acquired a remington 700 with a trigger tech trigger installed. It's currently set at 2lbs. I have not played with or shot it yet. I was running the bolt and when I ran it hard and fast the firing pin would go off and dry fire. Anyidea what would cause this? Should i increase the pull on the trigger? Could not run it so hard but nonetheless I still a safety issue?

That’s not safe however having a cartridge in the chamber usually provides enough cushion so that the same situation that occurs empty, doesn’t occur loaded. Trigger tech will replace the trigger if you call them and explain what is happening.

Had that happen with a Timney in a 700, fix was a Gretan cocking piece. The OEM was sliding over the trigger sear.

I have the trigger pull maxed and I contacted triggertech and they suggested and highly recommended getting the action timed. Again this only happens when I slam the bolt which really won't happen when clambering live ammo. Should I take the action to a gunsmith?

I would try a different trigger before I had someone remove and reattach the bolt handle

Yeah...can't see this being a timing issue at all, cocking piece or trigger sear, just too little interference allowing it to jump.
I'll trade OP a flat blade Timney if he wants to swap and give that a try.

I had the opposite happen with a trigger tech trigger and model 700. The action would not #### when cycling the bolt.
After some back and forth they sent me a new one that worked fine.
Good luck.

So it still slam fires on max Lb age ? If SO ITS a trigger problem I believe ! I have a TT field trigger in my CA Mesa and it’s doesn’t slam fire on the very lightest setting . Sounds to me like the SEAR engagement is not set correctly . JMO RJ
