Remington 700 VS Savage BA110

Title say it all... i'm looking for a precision riffle in 308 and i am hesitatin between those two....

for the same price , 2000$, which one is the best and why ????

i can consider building my own 700 to reach 2000$ ...

With the Savage 10 and 110 BA rifles your spending a lot of money on the "cool" factor. You could get the same performance from a Stevens 200 action with a quality barrel and stock. Even though I love my 110BA.

I don't own a Remington but lots of people swear by them so they must work.

Building a gun could be a lot of fun and you also get the exact action/barrel/stock ect. that you want.
 
actually i don't have enough knowledge to buid my own...still need to do some reserch!

i know the 700 have made his proof... but wondering about the 110 quality ...and it look so dam ###y!!

The 110 BA is built nicely. Mine shoots great. If thats the rifle you want then get it. Mines in 300WM and its a ton of fun.
 
id buy a rem 700 hb of your choice and get a mcmillain A5. spend the difference between the rem/mcmillian and the savage trying to wear the barrel out on the rem.
 
Go custom, it will cost a little bit more up front but also give a lot more, and by the time you start adding a proper trigger, barrel change, bedding, tweaking and what not on a factory rifle to make it better, you're within dollars anyway.
Last week I canceled a factory rifle I had on order after waiting 6.5 months and still not being able to know if I was ever gonna get it. I wanted it as a learning project but finally got tired and decided to build my own.
This is day 5 into my build now, hoping to finish the stock today. Pics coming soon :)

Handle as many as you can and see what fits you the best. Both rem and savage are accurate out of the box rifles , how ever they will both give you out of the box results , some where in the 3/4moa range with good (federal GMM or the likes) ammo, can be brought in a bit tighter with hand loading . If your expecting to shoot down in the 3/8 - 1/4 MOA you won't be doing it with a factory rifle from rem or savage
 
No matter how much you pay, they are still just factory rifles, and there is no guarantee either will deliver precision results. If you want a true precision rifle, you need to use precision parts. Same with race cars and other high-performance tools. For the price, I'd put one together starting with a used Remington and a new barrel.

but how much precision do you want or expect? If you want to eventually shoot .2-.3MOA groups, these guns likley won't do it out of the box. If you are just going to use factory ammo and have fun, these likely will deliver enough performance
 
actualy i wanna made thight grouping( 1 inch and least) at 300 yards and more.... i'll be reloading myself in 308.... i know factory is factory..like race car ...but it's easyer to make a race cour from a porsche than a 90 Honda civic CX.... so that's why i wanna got some different opinion!
 
I would start out with the Rem 700 5R, you get a good stock and likely one of the best factory barrels commonly available. Add good bases/rings and spend as MUCH as you can possibly afford on the optics. This will get you well down the road to a decent set up and shooting good groups. Oh yeah, and get back to us with a range report!
 
Get a Savage, you'll quickly learn how to do everything up to and including barrel changes for yourself. I bought a 111 package gun and I now have a tackdriver for way less than the BA and way, way less than a Remington that I couldn't do as much work on myself. And I have the exact gun I want and I can easily change it to a different gun if that is what I want later.

I have a 110BA in .338 Lapua and, yes, it is a very cool rifle but if I was in your position and wanted cool-factor looks and very good accuracy I would do the following:

Buy a Remington SPS
Buy a good scope ( at least Sightron Siii - NF if budget allows )
Install the rifle in a MDT TAC 21 Chassis
Down the road buy a Krieger barrel ( one for sale on EE right now )
Buy aftermarket trigger ( I recommend Jewel but others are also good )
Get a good gunsmith to true action install new Krieger and Jewel and ###y oversize bolt knob
Go shoot tiny groups with cool looking and 1/2 MOA new rifle
