I have a couple of Winchesters, a older Model 670A in 3006 (yes one of the dreaded post 64's) and a customized Classic.
The new Classic was well made before I had it rebuilt. It shoots better than me.
The old post 64, while a push feed, shoots better than me and the fit and finish is fine. Mind you after 30 years of use it has some wear marks on the stock.
I think this topic is more of a Ford/Chevy thing. The Model 70 and the 700 are both good rifles although I think the 700's quality has fallen off of late.
I like the old pre 64's but they are not the holy grail - to me - a good rifle is a good rifle.
