This is a .30-06 rifle that I assembled from assorted parts. Stock, barrel, bolt body, receiver were all salvaged from different rifles. The bolt body was missing its handle. Rather than install a Remington style replacement handle, I thought I would do something different.
Started with a universal handle from Brownells. Its saddle is blank, so it was necessary to shape it to match a 700, including the primary extraction cam. After cutting and shaping, it was attached to the body with paste silver braze.
It was a tight fit, so I lapped for final fit. Camming action is close to 100% - better than factory.
