Hey all,

Just received my new tack drive in the mail on Tuesday. Ain't a Tikka Tactial or anything special but should do for now. I wanted something with a bit more power then my .223

That is a very nice looking rifle!!! I would be very interested in knowing how it shoots, please report! I may have to take a serious look at that model, does it come in blued?? Whats the weight like?? Anyways congrats...looks good!! Scott

I was told that the barrel on these are only good for 900 rounds or so, can anyone confirm or deny this?

I was told that because of the Magnum round and the heat it generates, it just burns up the rifling.

If it is a 300 Winchester mag, the barrel should easily last 2000 rounds or more. Be sure to let it cool between rounds and clean it properly, and you are good.

The 900 rounds is more inline with the barrel life of a 300 Remington Ultra Mag (about 25 grains more powder charge per round).

That's good to hear. I should take me more then a few years to put ~2000 rounds down range with this monster. I'll be using my .223 a lot more for obvious reason but this .300 will be good if I ever decide to take up hunting and for simply shooting melons at 1000 yards
