well if your going to be building with the intent of a SWS *Sniper Weapon System* you will want 1 of the following calibres
.223, .308, .300WM,
then in the all that you need to get is a bipod, quality glass, some krylon cammo paint.
but for what purpose do you want a SWS? Competition, Field service*actual LEO/Mil/PWC*, just to say you have a sniper rifle?
first what are you looking t ospend on this "sniper style" gun
for a rifle to look and preform just like the guns you see in the movies and read about in your mags look at any where from $1,000-5,000 for the steel and stock, then an additional $1,000-4,500 for the glass.
and then look at spending at least $1.50-$2.50 + per shot unless you reload your own ammo
i am currently building a Tactical rifle for both competeing and recreational shooting,
the rifle started out as a stevens 200 in .300WM. i have added a Choate USS stock, rock mount bipod. it currently sports tasco 6-24X40 glass weaver 2 piece bases, burris signature zee rings with offset inserts. i have a Pac-nor pre-fit barrel on its way to replace the factory barrel. the new barrel is 28"long with the savage standard shank dia finishing at the muzzle .935 straight taper.
with the new barrel the stock and glass i am at $1,174.00
I will be replacing the tasco scope with one of the Falcon scopes being sold by Allen Gun Works, once i get the barrel installed and paid for. it will most likely be one of the Menace line of scopes.
i will also be getting the bolt knob replaced by one of our board members, a removable muzzle brake installed, and the bolt spiral fluted.
