New to long range precision shooting and am seeking assistance is finding the ideal "off the shelf bullet" that will maximize the barrel and twist rate of the Remington 700P. Should I be using 150 or 168 grain bullet for those 300-500 yard targets? Remington, Hornady, Nosler, Federal etc?

Thank you in advance.

The 168s would do just fine, maybe 175gr and as low as the 155gr Palmas.

168 though would probably be your 'go to' weight

I've had the best luck with Berger Bullets and Sierra Match Kings. But I also had great groups with some of the Lapua 167gr bullets as well.

I have been shooting Berger168 VLD's
Behind Varget powder.
I have getting sub MOA consistantly out to 1200yards.
I am shooting the Rem700, XCR Tactical with a 1:12 twist rate.
I really enjoy it!

175 Smks worked really well in my rig out to 1000

Not too sure if you can get them in factory ammo or if the factory loads will pattern well out of your rig. Mine were going about 2650 with 44.5 grains of Varget.

Try these:
-Sierra 155gr Palma
-Sierra 168gr Matchking
-Sierra 175gr Matchking
-Hornady 178gr AMAX
-Berger VLDs also work very well

I have my best success with the Hornady 178gr AMAX Moly Coated using Norma cases,Varget powder, and Fed 210M primers.
