if you plan on setting up something like a 6.5x.284 on the Remington you can use the short action. The only problem is getting a loaded round out of the port if something's not right. i.e. primer doesn't light off, didn't feel quite right when you closed the bolt, or you simply can't get the bolt closed for whatever reason. i.e. forgot to turn a neck down in a tight necked chamber etc. s**t happens.
This is no big deal in that you can pull the bolt from the rear and the cartridge will follow it out... if it doesn't you can get your finger into the port, flick it rearwards and out through the back...
never had a problem in fclass as we have plenty of time during screwups... Precision might be under a possble time constraint... I'll let one of the precision guys anwser that...
I kinda like the short actions because ya they're stiffer, shorter bolt throw, bolt doesn't rattle as much ha... now are the shorts more accurate? Well I wouldn't bet the farm on it...
