I just got a 700p in 308 I have too problems with it. 1- it damage all the brass on the sides when feeding. 2- It does feed well from the mag.

What can be done? Can I grind the two lips on each sides to stop the scratching of the brass? Can I bent the 2 lips up to help feeding?
Or is there more that could cause these problems.
For the price they sell these rifle remington could at least inspect them for defect or even test them. I am very disappointed in the quality of that rifle.

I found the feed lips in my SPS-Varmint .308 to be very sharp as well, causing fairly deep scratches on the cases as they fed. I removed the rifle from the stock and took sandpaper to them lightly to deburr the sharp edges. This greatly reduced the marks left on the cases as well made feeding more smooth. Up to you if you feel comfortable doing that, but I agree you really shouldn't have to on a brand new rifle.

I had the same problem with my Rem LTR. Deep marks in the brass and shavings everywhere. I took mine in to a rem gunsmith and he filed it down which helped a lot but did not completly fix the issue. Over time and cycling many rounds it now has gone away.

Get it sanded/filed and then work casings through the action over and over till it works in and corrects.

if your going to do anything to the feed lips make sure its very light. you change them to much and you will be lucky if it feeds anymore. remember its easyer to remove metal than to replace it.
