This gun will not be sold on CGN to let you know im not fishing.

Friend of mine wishes to buy this rifle off of a relative. He came to me to see what is a fair price as neither of them Know. I told him i have an idea it would be in the 500. dollar range but i would check with with the more knowledgeable folks here.

The rifle is a Remington 721 in 30-06 Springfield.
it has been converted to use a box magazine, looks like a good job.
The steel is very good however the stock has been well used over the years but not abused.
Scope is a old weaver variable 2-7 power prob not worth much in and of itself
I realize without handling or at least seeing pictures it isn't possible to pin value down but im just looking for a ballpark figure for them to work with.
I have looked a bit on the internet but US value isn't always the same as here.

I think $500 would be top dollar for a 721 and for me it would have to be in very nice shape to spend that much on one. There is nothing that makes a 721 more attractive than a newer M-700 and used M-700's in .30/06 are far from uncommon. If as you say the scope is of little value, and the stock is "experienced" I'd be more inclined with $350 for the rifle. DBM's are only valuable to those who want them, and some folks prefer a hinged floor plate, so that might help or hurt the price depending on the buyer. If there is sentimental value attached to this rifle by either the owner or the buyer, nothing we say here will have much impact on the final price.

$350 - $400 tops in the condition that you describe.

I agree.....I've owned many 721/722's and while they are nice old Remingtons they have nothing over a 700. Used 700's can still be had for a bit more than this.

While we are on the subject or old Remmy values.....Here's onother one...a 600 in 308 with original rib, sights and butt plate, walnut stock, old 1.5-5 Banner that has seen better days, good solid rifle with very few marks.

Four digit serial #, built 1964.....
What's it worth?
