I have the chance to purchase an older Remington Model 721 in 7mm Express. ( Yes it says 7mm Express right on the barrel. Not .280) The good is in amazing condition. Not mint but slightly under mint. I was wondering approximate values for these guns? I know it's hard without pictures but the seller wouldn't let me take any. Any ideas?

"...an older Remington Model 721..." Hi. Old is right. The 721 was discontinued in 1962. There was one, in .30-06, on a Canadian auction site, that sold for $295US.

It must have a later barrel on it from a late 70's,early 80's 700.

The 280 was introduced about '57 in the 740,760,721 and 725 and renamed to the 7mm Express Remington in '79 and changed back to 280 a couple years later.

The 721(long action) and 722 (short action) were the fore-runner to the 700, discontinued in '62 with the introduction of the 700.

I had a real nice 721 in 270 that I just sold for $350

Barrel is a later unit, as Rembo stated. The 700 Barrels fit, since the two actions share many features. I would say max value, $400.00, with $300-$350 being the going price for common ones. Eagleye.

You should be fine at $300.00. Make sure it extracts and ejects OK. These occasionally had some issues with the extractors, which were not quite as strong as the 700 design. I have two 721's and they both work fine. Eagleye.
