I just want to confirm that the Remington 722 uses the same barrel thread and breeching as a short action 700.
My friend has an old 722 in .222 Remington. He inherited it from his late father, and he had found it buried in a snow bank in the arctic, decades ago.
I finally got a look inside the bore today, and it was bad -- really scary. The solution is going to be a new (or used, but not trashed) barrel in .222 or .223. I'm 95% sure that a Remington 700 take-off barrel or a barrel threaded and chambered for a 700 will work with this action, but I just wanted to make sure.
