Remington 7400

I would like to reblue my remington 7400 and am in the process of stripping it. My question is the trigger guard will not take the birch wood Casey blue that I want to use. Is it that white metal and will have to be painted with an enamel ? Also the same for the butt plate and screws .thanks for any help .

Yes it is white metal, paint it.

Screws are steel. Butt plate is likely plastic.
What do you mean by 'stripping'? That mean disassembly?
