Anybody have an idea what a Remington 742 Is worth ? its got a bushnell BDC scope on it. Was my Uncles handed down. Its in excellent shape maybe 30 rounds through it. He bought it in the Late 80`s. Going to be going for a moose hunt this year . Want to purchase a Bolt Action 300 Win Mag. Any thoughts on value?

Check carefully on the left side of the receiver, the 742 is/was a 70's firearm. The 7400, the new and improved version, was more the 80's variant.
If the bolt has interrupted lugs, it will be a 742. 3 solid lugs, a 7400.

740-742 were discontinued because of excessive wear inside the action on the guide rails know as chatter marks easy to spot open bolt look inside the front of the port just before the chamber area if shows wear will not feed and jams frequently
The bolt head has I believe 9 or 12 tiny locking lugs which was the problem
They still shoe up at the shop guys complaining of them not functioning non repairable .
In fact when Remington introduced the 7400 back in the 80's of 90's there was a very small time period where if you sent Remington your 742 they would send you a new 7400 I was a Remington warranty depot at the time Remington did not advertise that deal for very long just long enough for legal purposes
