Remington 742??

Hey. Why does Remington not offer the 742- 7400 semi-auto in .223 and .22-250???

The lightest cal they offered in that lineup of semi's was .243 if I recall.

I *think* the reasoning is that .223, and definitely .22-250, are varmint cartridges, not general purpose cartridges, and Rem's semi's are not really varmint accurate. They're fine for big game though.

Because they are discontinued models.

Remington do not offer it in any caliber - the 742 was discontinued 33 years ago...
