Years back I had a Rem 7400 and sold it. I miss the fast handling in the thick deer woods. Does anyone have one of the newer 750's? How do they rate to the 7400's?

Thanks

Duane

I had the 750 in a 35 Whelen carbine. I really liked and it never gave me any problems. I put about 200+ rounds through it with I think one problem on the first clip, other than that all good. Keep them clean.

I was in epps gunshop about 2 weeks ago looking at semi-autos. I mentioned a friend of mine was having problems with his 750 30-06. My buddy thought it was the clip since the new ones are cheap plastic. The guy at epps said there was alot bigger issues than cheap clips. I didn't ask anymore because i was'nt interested in buying one but you might want to give them a call before laying out a bunch of money on one.

Thanks for the input guys.. I might have to opt for a 7600 then. Eiither way, im looking for the carbine version.

My cousin has a few older ones, Model 4, 740, 7400, and they all function great. He went out bought a brand new 750. Doesn't cycle at all?? We took the front hanguard off and everything looks good, but the bolt doesn't even try to open?? It's a 30-06 too. He back to the old ones again and is taking it back for warranty work.

I ended up getting a new Rem 7600 Carbine in 30-06. Hopefully she will be a shooter.

Thanks

Does the new 750 Woodsmasters use a plastic removable magazine? I am looking at the 750 in 30-06 with blued metal and gloss finish walnut stock 22" barrel.

Is there any plastic on them at all? Are they really junk?

750

Well, I just ordered a 750 Woodsmaster in 30-06 with a 22" barrel and walnut stocks. Should be here some time next week. At my hunt camp there is two 740's, two 742's and one 7400 all in 30-06 or .308.

There has only been one problem with a 742 that was traced back to a poor magazine. So im willing to go out on a limb here and give the 750 an honest try, I will report soon.

Way better choice than the 750. Get a pad put on it and the trigger tuned and it will be GTG.

A low powered, straight tube scope on low rings works perfectly on this rifle.

Here's mine in 308.

Rem 750

Ahhh, just got my 750 Woodsmaster in and all I can say is CRAP!!! I had to see it for myself but the R3 recoil pad looks like it was installed by a drunk, it was crooked and fit the wood really poorly. The sights you can tell Remington has cheaped out on now, they incraments arn't painted and the actual buckhorn piece is plastic. The satin wood finish must be cheaper for them to make aswell because they are changing the 7600 to it also, It looks retarted and almost like they added a stain for the wood grain, Remingtons gloss finish was way better!

The painted aluminum trigger guard didnt fit properly and made a clicking sound from side to side. The plastic dust cover for the bolt and plastic magazine bottom are a joke and look like they will last about a week. Dont even get me started on the machine cut checkering, you can actually see lighter wood cuts along the edge and was finished very poorly.

Overall the Remington 740 Woodsmaster is a piece of junk, I dont even care if it fires or not because it has gone back to Cabelas.ca for a full refund. I am going to look at a Browning BAR or maybe a 7600 in Gloss finish.

Remington has really gone into the can in the past few years, they wont get my business anymore until they fix this garbage!!!

I have 2 of the 750's no problems. 243 and 308 carbine. The mag bottom is hard thick plastic but the walls of the mag are steel. Most problems with all semi's are either the magazine does not lock in. Or so often people try to keep quiet when loading the first round by pulling the action back and slowly closing it. That's why they don't work. Pretty simple, pull the action back and let go....some people just can't figure this out.
