IMO, if the 10 round magazine is stamped for use in both the 742 and 760 Remingtons, it has to be pinned for 5, but if the magazine is intended and identified for use in the 760 only, a 10 round capacity is legal.
Not only that, but a drop mag makes a one-handed carry very uncomfortable if not impossible and adds considerable weight to the rifle with a full mag.I wouldn't bother with a ten shot mag in your 760. I always found that the mag catches on the higher capacity mags became worn very quickly causing feeding issues.
I have 3 magazines for mine. Never needed the extras in a hunting situation, but a friend had a 742 30-06 with two magazines. He encountered 2 cows and a young bull moose. Started shooting, dropped both cows and was charged by the bull. Dropped it at a distance of about 10 feet and had one cartridge left.
How does one get to shoot three moose w/o poaching?
1) party hunting is legal in Ontario, or
2) natives can shoot anything that moves
Status Card in his case, but we actually had enough tags in the party. Many years ago, when you could still get tags. Those were the GOOD OLD DAYS.
