OK,

So I'm trying to change the forend on my 7600. I got the forend off but, need to save the screw that holds the forend on. To my surprise, when taking the forend screw off, not only did the forend bolt screw come out out but so did the threaded errr...nut (?) that screws into the action tube. I cannot separate this threaded nut from the forend screw to save my life!

I can find replacement forend screws no problem but, can't even find a part number for the threaded nut type piece that screws into the action tube.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense. The forend screw screws into a threaded nut that threads into the action tube. I get the feeling that the threaded nut generally isn't supposed to come out. It's stuck fast though to the forend screw...

Can anybody help me? Or even tell me where I can get a replacement threaded nut alone?

Thanks!

well there's the forend screw that holds the forend on. It screws into a nut in the action assembly (that piece that gets held in with dimples in the tube)....that nut however is also screwed into the tube and...it's stuck fast to the forend screw so the whole unit came out leaving the tube with nothing to screw a new forend screw into....I'm not sure if that is any clearer. i should probably take a picture...

Hmm, try soaking it in penetrating oil for a day or 2, then maybe some heat. If you get it apart, it can probably be tacked back in place, carefully.

Kind of what I was afraid of. It's soaking in liquid wrench as we speak. I'd prefer not to have to send it all off to a gunsmith for another whole action bar assembly....

I know exactly what you mean, I had this happen on a fellows 7600 and for the life of me couldn't get it to come out. What I wound up doing was drilling 2 holes through the action bar tube into the threaded cap (180 degrees opposed), staking it, then slowly backing the forend screw off.
