So recently i got a 7600 in 270. It shoots great and functions nicely except for one major hiccup. It wont eject live cartridges. Its not the ejector i dont think, because it will spit out fired shells with no problem. it looks like the unfired shells get hung up on a small peice near the ejection port. I wonder if it is OAL of the cartridges or if it is something with teh gun. Cartridges used were winchester 150 grain pp's. They were factory not reloads. Any suggestions as to what it is and how i can fix it.

I posted in the hunting arms forum and didn't get a satisfactory answer so im re-posting here. I was asked how much the hang up is and i would have to guess at about .040 or so , but i dont have a caliper so its a guess based on MM to inch conversion.

The peice that its getting hung up on is part of the bolt cover system. it is a part that has something to do with catching the bolt cover, but it looks mostly asthetic. Im gonna take the gun to a smith in a week but want to get some idea what im getting into first

The ejector is always pushing against the case. Make sure that the action is opened fully so that the cartridge can be ejected. Remove the FCG and look for debris also, or anything that prevents the bolt from moving fully to the rear.

You say "it looks like the unfired shells get hung up on a small piece near the ejection port", determine whether or not they are and what the piece of metal is.
