Wouldn't it be great if they made these? Well, they did! Ellwood Epps had 4 of them show up on Thursday. 3 of them sold yesterday, including the one I bought. There's still one left! I'm sure this rifle will carry like a Winchester 94 but hit like the hammer of Thor. They say that it doesn't have the Monte Carlo stock so the irons should line up perfectly. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week.

I already reload for this calibre so I can tailor loads as necessary for comfort and power. She'll be a good "woods loafing rifle". Not sure if I should use the factory irons or a receiver peep with fibre optic front sight or throw a Leup 1x4 on it.

I made my own a number of years ago by replacing the stock with a Remington synthetic and cutting the barrel down to 20". It is my #1 moose gun and, as has been said, very handy to carry and has power to spare. Any problems with recoil and muzzle blast are negated by the fact that this isn't really the sort of rifle I want to take to the range and shoot 50 rounds in a session. I have other rifles for range fun.

I like a 20" bbl better as well.

I've had three 7600s in 35W over the yrs. A couple of those would open upon firing at the bench and actually work the slide enough to eject the empty over the side of the bench. This is common on these rifles in this chambering and not to be confused with a mafunction.

Thanks! This is my third 7600 in the Whelen. I did experience the cases ejecting from the bench as well. I bought this on impulse simply because the carbines are so rare and I love the .35 Whelen.

Congrats on the new rifle. The 7600 Synthetic Carbine in .35 Whelen is a strange one. It is really not rare at all if you were in Europe in fact quite common and remington makes a lot of them for export to France. The walnut not so much
The rare part is when some fall out of these runs and end up in the US and canada for sale.
I picked up a walnut version from epps a few years back the exact same way you did. Six arrived in an order and were gone in a day or so.Might have been 2006
Why remington will not allow some of the export runs to be made for canada and the US is beyond me since they sure would sell a few.

I had a 35 Whelen with 18.5" barrel and found the Sierra 225 gr SPBT to be a good all around chambering for north eastern ontario hunting (black bear, deer, and almost always calf moose) flew straight and hit hard

I've always wanted to ream a 30-06 7600 carbine to .338-06.

What a great bush rifle that would be!

I agree! About 3 yrs ago, Epps had a 7600 in 338-06 in their used section. I thought about it, but waivered, and it was sold on short order. That's the only one I've seen... guess the other conversions are keepers :)

This one isn't a conversion, it's brand new. A .338-06 would be sweet, though. Maybe Clay can get them to do a special run of them.

Yes, I had the super low rings with a 1x4 Leup before and it's a pretty fast target acquisition. Maybe I'll pick up another stock for it.

Congrats on your purchase Slooshark1. I had one of the wood stocked carbines that Epps brought in a few years ago and put aftermarket synthetic stocks on it with a limbsaver pad. Found that recoil wasn't too bad,but I had to keep a pretty good grip on it while shooting from the bench. Foolishly let it get away when something else caught my eye. Bac4

Slooshark1 - congrats on that great snag! Welcome to the club.

Guess you've changed yer thinkin since your last comment on my syn stocked M7600/35W carbine - I quote,

... I liked your carbine but I'm not a fan of tupperware stocks.

BTW mine is still NIB. Both my syn and walnut stocked 35W factory carbines are non-MC which I happen to prefer. I like them better because they work with both irons and low mounted small scopes I use.

Remington MC stocks I find almost unusable with irons because they beat up my cheek bone. With a scope however all is well.

Yes, I've opened up my way of thinking to include synthetic stocks now. The MC stocks do not work properly for open sights, only scopes. I'll play around with this one and see what I decide.

They certainly lack character but when you're sitting in your stand and are soaked to the bone, I don't quite feel as bad with a synthetic. Watching the wood swell up and the finish peel off a nice rifle is sometimes hard to stomach. Even if that's what it was intended for. I have lots of guns and like to try something different all the time. It's great being a firearms enthusiast (aka gunnut).

All four sold now - can still buy em in 30-06 and 270 however - so a lot more 35Whelen interest in these. Buy when you see em is the motto on these ones - do not hesitate.
BTW - Epps sold em slightly cheaper than the last comparable lot a few years ago.

I'd be interested to know if the order number on the box end is different or the same as the last run.
