Remington 783 mag conversion?

Hey Gang…

Can anybody advise if there is an AR mag conversion kit for a Remington 783 bolt gun? If so, who carries them?

Why would you want to do this? AICS mags are just better for bolt actions.

I have not seen at AR mag conversion for a Rem 783, nor would I recommend one for a 2-lug bolt action, they usually have feeding issues. Look at the factory bolt actions that feed from AR type magazines, Mossberg MVP, Ruger American, The Fix by Q, etc they are usually 3 or more lugs on the bolts or that weird thing the Mossberg has going on with it's bolt.

Pacific Tool and Gauge sells a DBM for the Rem 783 that takes AICS magazines. It requires some fitting to the factory stock. I bought it and installed in on my 783 HB, took afternoon of dremel work, going slow until it fit right in the crappy plastic stock. It worked quite well in the end. But for me ended up being a waste of money & time. Since I later upgraded to a MDT XRS chassis, which is significantly better than the cheap factory plastic stock in every way except weight.

Hey…

Wow! Great reply! I was looking to do this because Of allllll the AR mags I have, but at the end of the day, it’s not a huge priority. Just something I thought of doing.

Thanks for the info!

+1 for AICS-pattern mags over AR type. I had a very accurate and reliable Ruger American Ranch in .223/AR configuration; enjoyed it much more after switching it over to take AICS mags.

I originally got it because I thought using AR mags, which I had already, was a selling point. After a few months of those flippy floppy sloppy things I made the switch (had the AICS mags already as well) and much prefer the solid feel.

I'm toying with the idea of a Bison now; the fact that it uses AR mags is keeping me away rather than attracting me.
