I am looking to buy a new Remington rifle chambered in 308 Winchester, to be used on the range for 100yd target shooting and possibly hunting in the near future. I saw the low price tag on the Remington 783 rifles brand new, and even lower on used ones; compared to the Remington 700. Obviously two different rifles. I already own a Remington 700 chambered in 223. and I have nothing but good things to say about the build quality and accuracy. However I cannot afford to dish out cash for another $1000 for just a base to build up quickly in a timely manner. Then to later add a scope mount, rings, good glass, and to keep buying ammunition. Alll these expenses add up and make it difficult to just get out to the range or field and shoot. So in your own oppinions do you think I would appreciate the Remington 783, how does its accuracy compare to the Remington 700, does this rifle has inherent mechanical problems that are common to its model, and are there aftermarket accesories to purchase such as; trigger assemblies, stocks, etc. Any contribution to this thread would be much appreciated. Thank you.
