I bought one to use as a donor action to build a custom .30 cal smokeless muzzleloader. Have to admit I really like it. For 300$ it is a lot of gun. cut above the axis for sure. smooth action and great trigger

Ya, have one in .243! Shoots and functions fine for a basic low budget rifle. The Chinese scope that comes on some of them leaves lots to be desired. Need one in 30-06 yet!

I am pretty much a walnut and blued steel guy, but took the plunge a while back and was pleasantly surprised.

Now have one in 270 Win and 300 Win Mag as well. All three will put a magazine full into well under five inches at 300 meters. Quite acceptable hunting accuracy! Most everyone else in that thread felt so, too.

Basically, after purchasing Marlin, Remington took the excellent Marlin X series rifles, changed the stock slightly, and added a detachable magazine.

Running a 7mm and 30'06, no complaint here with accuracy or durability of these cheap guns.
Might turn the 7mm into a 264Win....looks like a pretty easy swap. Have a Vanguard in 7mm on the way so I dunno....one of them will be getting the 264Win treatment lol.

If I were to pick up one of the budget bolt action offerings as a beater don't care what happen's to it rifle .... would be the 783 in .308. Not buying one with the crap scope though. Complete waste of an extra few $.

I bought one in .270 in the fall and I'm happy with it considering how cheap it was to buy. I'm not completely content with the .270 having never fired one before so I may be looking to trade up for a .308 soon.
