Pick up of all things this morning a single shot remington 812 in 28ga.Not a bad little gun but the problem is I need to find a stock for it since the original has been cut down so I called Numrich and they have them new one for 410 and one for 20,16 and 12ga.
Kept telling me I could not have a 812 in 28ga since they were not made and I have no clue what frame the 28ga used the 410 or the larger one.
Anyone know or have a 410ga 812 to check. Thanks in advance for the help
They say a CIL 401 and 402 will also be the same??

Hello Mac,in the past I had both a 28 gauge C-I-L Model 401 and a Remington Model 812.If I remember correctly the C-I-L was manufactured a bit earlier than the Remington. The C-I-L had a slimmer forend. The shotguns were made in Brazil. Not sure of the frame size.

The shape this one is in other than the stock being cut would not suprise me it is one of your old guns since someone sure babied it.
Starting to get the impression although these were all made for export out of the US we know for sure some of the common gauges stayed behind but starting to seem the 28ga may have been a 100% canada only offering.

I agree with the above, that it's most likely built on a 20ga frame.

Also, If I remember right, the CIL was made in Brazil, and was after the Remington 812. Anyhow, nice find in a 28ga. I've seen the Rem in all gauges except for the 28. Neat.

Thanks Guys and normally I would agree but here is my concern
This is remington remember.
In 69 they introduced the small frame 1100 and 870 in 410 and 28ga, 20 ga was on the 12ga frame still
Then I think around 72 or so they started making the 20g on the small frame but also still made some on the large frame
So if the 812 was made for them in 71 see what I am getting at. 65 bucks and taxes and shipping from the US with a 50/50 chance of being right is risky. If I could find a 410 or 20 812 to compare against then I would know for sure.
Right now all I know for sure is 410 is different from 20,16 and 12 which numrich says are the same 28 they have no idea

My 812 in .410 appeared to have been built on a 20, it wasn't scaled down.
Understand but if I go by the supplier the 410 stock is one part number and the 20, 16 and 12ga a different part number .
I'm really confused now. Thanks for the feedback I am going to have to try to find one and put them side by side I guess
