I just purchased a Remington 812 12 gauge shotgun. Its a single barrel break open and takes a 2 3/4 shell. I purchased it because it was very inexpensive, in great shape and I've always wanted a break open shotgun so I thought this one would be something cool to add to my collection. I was hoping some of you guys could give me some more info about it such as history and or any info in general about it.

Thanks Everyone!

"The Remington Model 812 was manufactured by Companhia Brasileira Cartuchos (CBC) in Brazil. Remington owned an interest in this company until taken over by the government in the 1970's.
This shotgun was not sold in the USA, it was made for foreign sales. However, it was sold in Canada by Canadian Industries Ltd. (CIL) as the Model 402. This shotgun was sold in the US by some discount stores, but not under the Remington name. The 812 was made in 12, 16, 20, & 410 gauges. Barrel lengths are 12 ga 30", 16 & 20 ga 28"."

Only serious problems that crop up with these guns is the plastic piece at the end of the forend breaking, along with the plastic trigger guard and end of the action release. Parts availability is catch as catch can.
Incidentally, an interesting technique was used to manufacture the receiver. Most single shotguns have receivers machined from castings. This one's receiver is a heavy stamping, finished with additional pieces being welded in.
