Hi all,

I am thinking of building a tactical shotgun but I was wondering if you can use 870 express aftermarket accessories on a norinco clone? The reason I ask is because I like the looks of the 14" norinco but don't want to buy it to find I can't add to it. I want to add an AR telescoping stock with a rail for a red dot.

Thanks!
Evan

Yes, but the barrels work only on the frame for the 14" barrel not the 18"+.

RePete, are you sure? I was under the impression that only one of the Norinco's has an oddball mag tube length... thought it was the 26" or 28" one?

Actually, I have a HP9 receiver (originally 14") that I bought off someone and it's wearing an 18" Remington barrel without issue. Thus, the 14" receiver and the 18" receiver are the same mag tube length.

Edit - I just checked Marstar's website, and see that they advertise the 14" with a 4 round tube, and the 18" plus with a SIX round tube. I'm almost 100% it wasn't always like this... maybe the newest batch is? There are tons of guys who buy a 14" Norinco for the barrel, and then sell the receiver... if it only fit 14" barrels, they'd be worth almost nothing in the EE forum. And like I said, mine is wearing an 18" no problem...

canucklehead,

i think what you are saying is consistant with RePete. The norincos that comewith the 14" barrel have the same size tube as all the 870s and so any 870 barrel will fit them if I am understanding. But any of the other norinco's have a longer tube and so remington barrels will not fit them.

Aha. I see you are correct sir... :p Thanks for the reality check!

Either way, can anyone confirm whether this has ALWAYS been the case, with every shipment of Marstar Norinco's?

Repete, no, you're right, I checked the site before.

My question is has this ALWAYS been the case with all Norinco shipments? As mentioned, I seem to recall that only ONE of them originally had a wonky mag tube, the rest were standard frames. Was I dreaming?

I think...... but don't exactly know as I don't own any Rincos.....

18.5" Norinco receiver (6 round tube) none of the 14" barrels will fit. The mag tube is longer and barrel band on any Remington and the Norinco 14" barrel is in a different place.

14" Norinco receiver (4 round tube) all Remington barrels will fit. The mag tube is the same length as Remington's and the barrel band is in the correct place on all barrels ... except the Norinco 18.5" barrel.

This is why canucklehead's 18" REM barrel fits on his 14" receiver with the 4 round tube.... but 18.5" Norinco receivers and their 14" receivers are different, they have different length mag tubes.

So, I think that the 18.5" Norinco receivers are the ones that wouldn't be worth much without the barrel, not the 14" receivers. Of course, one can always cut the mag tube and re-thread it.

Ok cool! Thanks for the info guys. I am happy with the 18.5" for now, but I always like knowing what I can do with my guns.

Now...heres another idea. So the problem is that the tube magazine is too long. Can I take the tube magazine and forend parts off an 870 and use them with my norinco? I know most parts are interchangable, I am just trying to get an idea what the limits are.

Thanks!

Why not purchase a complete Remington 870 instead.

Sell or trade your Norc receiver for aftermarket parts you'd like to replace on your newly acquired Remington.
