Remington 870 barrel question

Hello all

I am wondering if an 870 wingmaster barrel will fit on an 870 express (or Norinco HP9). I know that new factory barrels from Remington are labelled as for either the wingmaster or the express; this leads me think they aren't interchangeable. I have a short barreled Norinco HP9 and would like to get a 26" or 28" for it so I can shoot some clays. I know it will take 870 express parts no problem but I have an opportunity to get a great deal on a wingmaster 28" barrel. Any info would be much appreciated.

The reason Remington lists them seperatley is simply because of the finish. The Wingmaster is a high polished blue and all other 870s are bead blasted, parkerized, camo, etc. All 870 barrels interchangeable with the exception of the 870 Special Field models, these one are model specific.

When swaping 870 barrels pay close attention to the stamped chamber lengths on the barrel...you wouldn't want to shoot 3" ammo out of an older 2 3/4" only barrel.

Correct-length of chamber is the only factor-all else is finish/esthetics..

Carlson's choke tube company markets very nice, well machined barrels for Rem 870's.
They're made in Turkey and are far better than the pipes Remington is selling these days.
All are 3" chambers and chrome lined bores in lengths from 18.5"-28" and come with 1
choke tube installed. I just put a 26" vent rib one on my 870 tactical and it fit perfectly
snug. I got mine from Al's Corner Store in Arnprior ON for $210.oo before tax & shipping.
The matte finish on these barrels is silky smooth to boot.

The choke pictured on mine is a Comp-N-Choke.

I bought an older Wingmaster barrel off a member here and made a cool little 19" barrel out of it for my 870 Express.
Fit perfect.
Haven't shot it yet. It's for summer alpine hiking/scouting snowshoe hare hunting.
