American Tactical Imports MB3R stripped receiver

Wanted to note i tried test fitting a Remington 870 barrel into the American Tactical Imports receiver, it did fit with a little pressure but somehow with it installed the action would bind up and made it very difficult to cycle the forend, where with the factory barrel installed it cycled like butter so maybe the dimensions are slightly off or could be just my example...
*Update* Certain combinations of using the Remington barrel and different forend furniture on the American Tactical forend tube assembly was the cause of it binding up for me.

This nut is normally not removed from the receiver so it shouldn't cause to much concern that it's slightly different. The internal thread where the stock bolt threads into is exactly the same as the Remington one so all furniture will work just fine. Only if you damage it in some way then you might have an issue finding a replacement because factory Remington nuts won't work.

For the ATI all furniture should be compatible, the bolt assembly seems like you could swap with another no problem but as for barrels it didn't give me to much confidence after trying to install the Remington barrel and it fitting so snug that it somehow binds up the action.. I might just leave that alone and keep the factory barrel on it cause as is it seems to run super smooth, well with snap caps anyway never got a chance to fire it yet.
*Updated the reason why it was doing this in the other post*

Wow, for $275 the Anerican tactical looks extremely well made.
The sub assemblies look very nicely finished.
I expected much more in the way of tool marks and rough finishing.

Its odd that the reciever is drilled for a Mossberg rail instead of the new standard Remington 3 hole.

One thing I'd like to know is the barrel muzzle end OD.

Is the OD big enough to be threaded for internal Rem chokes ?

Thanks for this post.

I think with a new stock and forend this will be a great utility gun to carry.

Not for rem choke it is not.
We looked at the numbers for using thin walled choke tubes.
It's possible but if the wall thickness is even off a little bit, it would chance a blowout when threading for choke tubes

I didn't take pictures of them but ATI also provides with the shotgun a baggy with a bead sight and the grub screws to fill the holes in the receiver in case you wanted to run it without the optics rail and remove the rifle style front sight.

Not sure why the Chinese manufacturers made those subtle differences, maybe just ease of manufacturing the way they were set up already??

Did a little more part swapping today and found out it's the American Tactical forend tube assembly that's the culprit with the action binding when a Remington barrel is installed. Once i installed a Remington forend assembly the binding disappeared and it worked fine with the Remington barrel. *Added some photos to the original posts, you can see the small differences between the Remington and American Tactical action bars there*
Here's some more photos of swapping around parts.

Even the Blue Line and Remington action bars have minor differences.

Using Remington action bars as a template against the American Tactical and some file work would eliminate the binding issue so Remington barrels could be installed and used trouble free.

Is it the action bars or the forend itself that is binding? I've run into some forends binding against the barrel when mixing different forends and barrels on a Remington in the past. One case I remember is a forend that didn't want to play with a Dlask barrel on a Remington Sportsman.

Thank you! HeadDamage you're absolutely right. Did some playing around and certain combinations of using the Remington barrel and different forend furniture on the American Tactical forend tube assembly was the cause of it binding up. Updating with more photos up above.
So with that said maybe just a slight modification to certain forend furniture and you'll be good to go without issues.

Also added some photos in the trigger group section of the American Tactical MB3R with a Remington trigger group assembly installed.
