Remington 870 Express Compact Junior accessories

My nephew is getting a 20 Ga Express Compact Junior for his birthday, so I'm buying some tacti-cool for him. I know he wants a light mount and a red dot, but I've never owned a shotgun, so I need advice.

1- Will most 870 accessories fit the express models as well?
2- For the red dot, I think the aluminum wrap around style that bolt on trough the existing pin holes look adequate. Any recommendations?
3- Are the any decent quality light mounts available? The ATI forend with rails doesn't get great reviews, and I haven't seen much else. What are the best light mount options for a 20Ga vent rib barrel?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Most parts will not fit on the new 20ga 870 as its a true 2o frame

And of course anythinng marked for 20ga 870
Just remember there are not to many true 20ga parts. Most are 12ga parts with adaptors. So many of them do not work well or are oversized and not very fitting for a 20 ga

You're really limited, as BBB points out.

That vent rib prevents you from getting a barrel clamp light mount, as well. Maybe there is a Surefire-type of forend available. But buying a non-VR barrel and a clamp-type light mount is probably cheaper in the end!

Or maybe you can buy an aftermarket plastic forend and DIY some rails on it. Or maybe check with Casey at Tactical Ordnance to see if there are any other options...

So as it turns out, his parents told me the wrong gun to buy. He wanted a 870 Express ShurShot Pistol Grip Slug gun. It has a factory installed cantilever scope mount, pistol grip, and smooth outside barrel. I have bought him the right one now, and barrel flashlight mount. He's gonna be so excited! Now all we need is the zombie invasion he KNOWS is coming!
