My ejector rail on my 870 super magnum is cracked and I am looking for ideas/options. I took it to a gunsmith and he said they need a special tool to put the rivets back in. He did mention though that they may be able to find a screw on version like the older 870s, but since it is a super magnum is this possible? Anyone know of what options there are? I would hate to have to spend $200 on a gun that is $350 new.

Thanks

I understand your dilemma of not wanting to spend nearly what the gun is worth to repair it. But, a couple of hours work will definitely run you well above $100.00 and close to $200.00. (Smiths have to eat too you know). That being said, and I don't have my 870 (wingmaster) on hand, what if you were to purchase a new ejector which would come drilled for rivets. Drill & tap the holes, enlarge receiver holes to accept the screw diameter. Thread it in using some permanent loctite. Just a quick fix for a $350.00 shotgun.

I talked with the best smith in the city, he said $70 if I don't care to have it re-blued. The threaded option does not really work as the receviver length is not compatible to the older style screw on ones.
