Just curious.
Been shooting 870's for over 35 years.
Never heard or seen an 870 extractor fail (or staked shell latches for that matter).
Are the MIM extractors really problematic or am I just lucky and/or hanging around the wrong people?

My take on this is that it's batch dependent. Most of the MIM ones run fine but you can get a MIM one that is too soft, or too porous and basically wears out. That doesn't happen with tool steel. As far as shell latches go, I have a fairly early Wingmaster that I'm replacing the latches on because they've come loose - but it's a '52 and it appears to have spent its life working, so god knows how many rounds have been put through it. The "new" barrel that was on when I bought it was a 1978 and it was well worn.
