Hi all! Just bought the above titled model. I was reading and following the operators manual last night and ran into some difficulties. It states that I should press up on the "action bar lock" and then pull the fore-end approximately halfway rearward (just prior to placing the barrel on). The problem is I couldn't push it up first. I had to pull the fore-end back first then I had the play neccesary to push up on the action bar lock. I gave it some Rem-Oil thinking maybe it needed some 'lube but that didn't do the trick. Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to push the forend and the action bars back into the receiver housing? I had this problem the first time I was trying to get it. Reassembly is Page 14 of my book for the 870 Express. Anyways, push the right shell latch on the inside of the receiver, then the left shell latch. You'll feel them 'click' in and that will allow the slide block and breech bolt to move inside the receiver. Then you can pull them all the way back, then cycle it halfway foward so you can see the. Then throw the barrel on, mag cap, spring, mag tube and your good to go.

If I misunderstood let me know and I'll try and help, but I think the action bars are being stoped by the shell latches.

Yes that's what I'm trying to do. Ok I'll give that a shot when I get home. Thanks.
