Remington 870 Police Magnum

It comes down to, where do you want your safety? I like the top tang on the Mossberg, because it's visible. My 870 has been on the shelf for awhile, for that reason.
 
The mossberg safety is easier to manipulate if you have the original stock on it. If you are using a pistol grip stock the 870's safety is easier to manipulate.
 
hillside42- That's something I'd never considered.

You'd have to do a lot more shooting than I, to have an opinion on reliability of these particular models. They seem unbreakable.

Probably the 870 Express models is what you heard about. The older Wingmasters are generally more reliable. However, so are the Mossberg 500/590 series.

I would get an older Wingmaster or a 590, but my preference is the Mossberg these days, either the 590A1 18.5 barrel or the semi auto 930.

The 870 Police is awesome.

Made on a separate line in the Remington factory and with different parts.

870 Police will give you no problems. Don't confuse the Police with the express or tactical.

I have owned a 870 Marine Magnum and it didnt cycle very smooth at all. Ive owned Mossberg 500, 590 and 590A1 and they worked way better.

The 870 police i was thinking of buying looks like the one below, just hope it cycles as smooth as the mossbergs. I love the wood furniture, if i could find a mossberg like that id buy it.

I've got a 14" and 18" Police. Never had a malfunction ever with either of them. Very smooth and tight as a drum. My 18" has the old school wood on it. I find the Mossberg shotguns a bit wiggly and loose. The Police feels much nicer to me.

I have the 870 Tactical, I thought that was the cream of the crop guys.. wtf!?? where can I find the police model? anyone?

Well i ordered one, and I have owned a Mossberg 590A1 and currently have a 590 special purpose. Both are excellent shotguns and work flawlessly. Im hoping this gun is the same, if not it will be sold lol.

I just love the wood furniture. If i could find a mossberg with that wood furniture id buy it.
