Hey guys,

Wondering about the history of these stocks and a general feeling towards them? Did Remington actually make them or are the aftermarket that was available as a factory option (like the Knoxx stocks)??

Also, are they out of production now?

i had one years ago and it looks cool but the stock is very sharp were your cheek gos against it. and when folded unless you have a pad on it it raddles against the barrel.

These were generally issued to LE Only guns in the mid/late 80's to early 90's (majority of them are actually stamped for LawEnforcement Use only), mine was, they were very well built in my opinion, and I would take one over any of these current polymer offerings from ATI in a heart beat! I never had an issue with the stock smacking my cheek, however everyone shoots differently also...

If you can find any come up on the EE, or online anywhere it should definitley be a stock every 870 owner should have!

Just my $0.02... :D

I have one on my 870 but its probably at least 25 years old and the plastic grip is likely getting brittle. Mine is for looks only, if I decide to take the 870 out then its a simple procedure to put a full length buttstock on it for hunting birds, etc.

I am hoping to build a nice little truck gun that will be small enough to stand up in the back of my Dakota.

I also was thinking practical/ tacticool for dogging the woods during deer season, figuring the skeletal frame may be lighter than the traditional wood and smaller/ easier to tuck against my body for the thicker brush. Had a pain in my ass toting around my 28'' smooth barrel this year.
